2021 Hurricane Creek Cleanup. Sat. April 3, 2021

Interactive map link

It's time for the 28th annual cleanup on Hurricane Creek. Our cleanup is the longest consecutive running stream in Alabama. Come out this year, Sat. April 3, 2021 and take part in the activities while enjoying the fresh outdoors along the creek bank. We will start to meet at the Holt Peterson site at 8:30 AM and begin activities at 9.
After nearly a year of hibernation and self quarantine associated with Covid 19 I, like many others am ready for some outdoor activity. What better way to get out and feel productive while having fun than being around the creek.

Unfortunately we still have to be careful about distancing and other issues still with us today. We will not be offering a pot-luck lunch or using our own canoes for the creek float. Feel free to bring your own boat and we will provide shuttles. The staging area at Watson's Bend needs some TLC by removing invasive species and some good old school whitewashing a couple of our outbuildings.

Alabama Power Co. came through this year and widened the existing right of way and left us with quite a mess. The creek bank needs a lot of woody debris removed so we can have have even more waterfront to enjoy. We will have a couple of pairs of brush loppers but bring any yard tools you feel comfortable with.
We look forward to being outside, on the creek bank with you all soon. Plenty of room for distancing and the outdoors are surely good medicine. Bring a sack lunch and plan on hanging out at the creek on Sat. April 3, 2021 for a day of fun, fellowship and good old outdoor exposure!

After the cleanup activities we will leave the campground open for folks wanting to stay and hang out around the fire.
